The name ‘Stash’ harks back to the days when tea was transported by Clipper Ships, a clipper master would keep a ‘stash’ of the finest tea tucked away in his ship for personal consumption, a lucrative perk. The Stash Tea Company started out in 1972 in Portland Oregon in the United States. They began by supplying high quality loose herbal teas and bulk herbs to natural food shops. Over the years their focus evolved to include a range of bagged teas in traditional blends, speciality blends and herbal teas, as well as other specialty products all dedicated to the calming ritual of drinking tea.

Stash Tea is now one of the largest specialty tea companies in the United States, and is available in many other countries, including Australia. In Australia, Food Factors was started in 2012 by Chris Wild and Patrick Catteau, both having many years of experience in the specialty food and beverage industry. They have seized the opportunity to work alongside Stash to bring high quality tea to Australian tea drinkers and connoisseurs.
